First Annual 3DNA Community Awards

THANK YOU

In the constant rat race that is life, we sometimes forget to show appreciation for those closest to us, even if we care about them very much. 3DNA is no exception. As we push our technology forward, we wanted to let you know that we haven't forgotten everything you've done for us in the past year. Consider this our way of saying "I love you", or for those who already have too much love, "Thank you".

To spread our appreciation around, we've put together the First Annual 3DNA Community Awards.

  2003 Winners
•  3DNA Hall of Fame Inductees
  Award Category Descriptions

Winners

After a lengthy decision process, the 3DNA team has chosen this year's community award winners. Here they are!

Superfan Award

Superfan Award - CarLBanks

CarLBanks is full of knowledge, curiosity and imagination, all held together with the energy of a sugar addict. We all enjoy his enthralling series of interviews and stories that keep us howling with laughter, and we cannot deny his endearing sweetness. CarLBanks is a wonderful asset to the 3DNA Community, and his enthusiasm motivates us all. The Superfan award was practically made for a man of this spirit.

•  “He's a 3DNAaholic!”
•  “He has one of the coolest/funniest 3DNA websites”
•  “Just always seems gung-ho to the 3DNA scene”

Exciter Award

Exciter Award - ac7v

ac7v is just the spark needed to keep even the quietest days on the forum jumping. He knows what it takes to get a response and keep the conversation rolling with his heart-warming welcomes to his pointless polls. Whether straight to the point or off on a wild tangent, ac7v can make anyone stop and think…even if just for a moment.

•  “He's always made me laugh no matter haw bad of a day I've had. When I first started visiting these forums his funny posts kept me coming back.”
•  “A lot of what he posts is nonsense, but when the forum is dead, at least one of his topics sparks interest.”
•  “If there was/is one thing he does, it's keep the conversation going, by any means possible!”

ROFL Award

ROFL Award - ScAtMaN

Scatman always has something delightful or witty to make any situation a barrel of laughs. His jokes, though wild and crazy at times, are never unkind or spoken carelessly. Humor brings out the best in him and he brings out the best in us. Without Scatman, the 3DNA Forums just wouldn't be the happy-go-lucky home we've all grown to love.

•  “Always full of quips, and keeps the mood light.”
•  “He always seems to come up with a joke.”
•  “Always there with a joke or two, often very amusing and never malicious.”

Lifesaver Award

Lifesaver Award - Dave_Morton

Dave Morton is a long-standing member of the 3DNA Community whose knowledge and tech support assistance is invaluable. Even through hard times, he could be counted on to give a helping hand whenever he was needed, from the simplest tasks to the most complicated of problems. With his rallying force and unending support, Dave Morton is a 3DNA Lifesaver.

•  “He pushed for pulling together the community and increased Theming and Skybox making.”
•  “Clear and concise technical assistance … for novices a more advanced users alike”
•  “Always a forward looking member with an abundance of enthusiasm”

Hospitality Award

Hospitality Award - TiMarie

TiMarie has dazzled the 3DNA Community with her ability to include others, from both new users to long-time members. Her work on a massive texture resource cannot be forgotten, aside from her innate likeable personality. Many thanks to TiMarie for helping others, encouraging them to join in discussions, and for her devotion to being compassionate.

•  “She always makes a point of personally welcoming all the new members”
•  “Ever since she has arrived here she has been an inspiration”
•  “Always seems to spread around a little goodwill”

Good Citizen Award

Good Citizen Award - Penfold (tie)

The good citizen award goes to Penfold for being so upbeat even in the hardest of circumstances, and for his broad contributions to the community. His peers recognize him for his ability to bring out different points of view, his tolerance, and his patience. Always positive, he is a source of advice as well as humor and fun. His nomination form in itself is an example of how thoughtful he can be when it comes to others. Penfold is a true exemplar of good citizenship.

•  “No matter what I find his banter interesting and always look forward to his posts.”
•  “He has come up with some excellent advice to people having difficulties.”
•  “Extremely pleasant chap, humorous, positive. Just one time less positive, but he had the courage to admit it and that just maybe more sincere (so more valuable) than someone who is always ‘nice'.”

Good Citizen Award

Good Citizen Award - Slinky1947 (tie)

With all of the wonderful people here, a second good citizen award goes to Slinky1947 for always being optimistic, helpful, and a maternal pillar of the community. Always helpful and encouraging, her peers say they have been affected by Slinky in a personal way, giving people a reason to stick around, or even just a reason to smile. Her contribution to the community has been as an all round good citizen, but exactly what she's meant to the community is best understood in the hearts of those who know her.

•  “Slinky is always so positive and upbeat! It's hard not to smile so often at her posts!”
•  “She always has something funny to say.”
•  “She has been here from the beginning (as far as I know) and provides help and encouragement!”

Golden Wrench

Golden Wrench - Another_User

Another_User is recognized for his work on enhancing 3DNA and is hereby presented with the Golden Wrench Award. With Another_User, it is for his work on the Deeley project and collaborating with JoeRad on the we3DNA project. Not to be overlooked is Another_User's longstanding good-humored participation in the 3DNA Community that has brightened many a day while extensively helping those with problems and questions. His vision on the 3DNA+ project is to be commended.

•  “AU is always there with a witty response or a clickable url to lighten up the forums. His off-topic posts are always a joy.”
•  “For keeping the basic idea of the 3DNA+ project alive... Always looking for a way to enhance the program.”
•  “Always keeping track of the Forums, always trying to find new assets for 3DNA like 3DNA+ and the Deeley skinner”

Honorable mention goes to SA_Horowitz for his work on extending the concept of Themes to create a picture group manager, made for decorating enthusiasts.

Inventor Award

Inventor Award - JoeRad

JoeRad is recognized for having a vision for 3DNA and modifications, sharing that vision with others, and is hereby presented with the Inventor Award. JoeRad is responsible for the very idea of a 3DNA mod community, and carrying that out with his Web Enhanced 3DNA, Radical 3DNA, and 3DNA projects. JoeRad's vision is a fundamental boost to the direction of 3DNA, for the community and even for the developers.

•  “For starting off the whole notion that 3DNA COULD be enhanced by fans, as well as his we3DNA, Radical 3DNA, and other 3DNA projects.”
•  “For having the vision for 3dna mods and sharing it with others [and] an abundance of positive attitude and optimism.”

Honorable mention goes to JanJaap for having a vision for what future Worlds could be like and using his talents to turn those ideas into rendered 3D representations of what 3DNA could be.

Themer Award

Themer Award - MrBatman

The Themer Award is for the person who has pushed themselves and others to produce the best Themes possible. With many of the best Themes created thus far, some even coming to define the Worlds themselves, nobody would question that MrBatman is the obvious winner of this award. One can't forget his presence on the forums, and to know him is to aspire to his high standard of contribution to the community, as both an artist, and as a person.

•  “I like his Themes the best and use them more than any of the others.”
•  “For creating some of the most cool Themes for Mercury World.”
•  “ I specifically nominated Bat for his Themes for Mercury when it first came out. They were fantastic and really defined what that World was about; namely the Theme defined the World... “
•  “Above and beyond the rest.”

Honorable mention goes to Neonsky, for excellent tutorials showing how to create Themes and what could be themed, thus enabling the second major wave of Themes.

Pixel Pusher Award

Pixel Pusher Award - Osmosis

A man with visions dancing in his head, Osmosis struggled to learn and master a complicated program to bring his visions to life. His perseverance has brought about beautiful Skies that are unique and refreshing to the delight of many 3DNA users. Osmosis is a true inspiration to all who wish to make their visions become reality.

•  “He's made some of the most beautiful Sky boxes. They look so real.”
•  “I have seen the screenshots for Os's work and there is alot of visions and talent there.”
•  “Great Sky-creator! Master of shades!! Not hooked to one style: always willing to try out new challenges.”

Fansite Award - InnerSource

The Fansite Award goes to Innersource, for having a polished and friendly site. She also takes time out to add a personal touch, both on the main page of her site, and in her thoughtful posts on the forums. One cannot forget her ongoing contributions to 3DNA's art scene, creating Themes and icons, and hosting downloads through her great site.

If you haven't already, please go to http://www.innersource.nl/ to check it out.

•  “She has a very well done site. Very welcoming.”

User Choice Award

User Choice Award - CandiColette

The winner of the user choice had to command the respect and admiration of the whole community. As such the winner was nominated numerous times for a variety of awards, not limited to the User Choice. The award goes to the person who has the most nurturing personality on the forums, who included others in what she did and always made everyone feel good. The uncontested winner is: (drumroll please) CandiColette! For everything she has done and everything that she is, the 3DNA Community proudly presents to her the User Choice Award!

•  “She has always helped out since before I was even here myself.”
•  “No one seems to get into an argument with Candicolette. She just seems to be a stabilizing force in the community.”
•  “She always tries to help out someone out.”
•  “She has always been a positive force for the newbie and veteran alike. She has a wonderful welcoming attitude.”

3DNA Choice Award

3DNA Choice - jr918

The 3DNA Team deliberated for a long time, and felt that jr918 serves as a great example to others for any award. He has been a consistent and reliable fan of 3DNA. He stimulates discussion, he keeps a joke rolling, and he strives to solve any problem he can find. There are qualities that he possesses that should be honored, including his openness, integrity, and reason. As a versatile and enduring force in the community, the 3DNA Team salutes jr918.

3DNA Hall of Fame Inductions

Blizzbaby and Aqua

If Blizzbaby or Aqua were able to receive any of the other awards, there would have been no other award winners. Seriously. What can be said that isn't already obvious? These two are extraordinary people in the 3DNA Community who have contributed so much. In the social life of the community, they both have the prerequisite qualities of humor, patience, logic, and compassion. Both have taken their contributions beyond the forums, with high-quality, thorough websites for the whole community.

Blizzbaby in particular has contributed so much artistically, in the form of themes and skies, earning herself an invitation to become a part of the 3DNA Team itself.

Aqua's work ethic can be seen just by the frequency and promptness with which he responds to issues on the forums, well before he earned the official status of moderator.

We salute these two, and hope they can serve as a positive example for the whole community, and for future inductees into the 3DNA Hall of Fame.
